In an exclusive interview with Sports Seoul on May 29, Jeon Hong-joon, CEO of ATTRAKT, the agency representing the girl group FIFTY FIFTY, expressed strong opposition to the police’s decision not to prosecute The Givers’ CEO Ahn Sung-il for alleged document forgery.

He stated, “How can they say there’s no evidence of guilt when there’s a recording of the conversation between Ahn Sung-il and Keena He voiced frustration with the police’s decision, finding it incomprehensible.

On the same day, The Givers issued a press release stating that the police had concluded the case with a “no charges” ruling regarding allegations of document forgery and use of forged documents raised by FIFTY FIFTY’s Keena. Last year, Keena filed a complaint against Ahn Sung-il, alleging that he used her signature without consent on copyright registration documents for FIFTY FIFTY’s hit song Cupid.

On the same day, The Givers announced that police had dismissed Keena’s forgery complaint against Ahn Sung-il, citing lack of evidence and confirming no legal violations in the copyright registration of Cupid.

However, ATTRAKT’s Jeon Hong-joon countered, “It makes no sense that a ‘no charges’ decision was made despite the existence of Ahn Sung-il’s recorded statements. I want to ask what the investigating officer was looking into.” He strongly criticized the investigation, adding, “It’s hard to accept that no harm was identified. Keena’s copyright share was arbitrarily changed from 6.5% to 0.5% without her consent.”

ATTRAKT released a recording of a conversation between Ahn Sung-il and Keena to the media, challenging the police’s decision. In the recording, Ahn Sung-il reportedly says to Keena, “You didn’t sign it yourself, did you?”

ATTRAKT stated, “Ahn Sung-il himself mentioned, regarding the copyright registration documents, ‘We submitted them, and if the signature is an issue, it’s our responsibility,’ directly addressing the use of the signature. Despite this acknowledgment in the recording, which suggests awareness and responsibility for the forgery, the investigative authorities’ non-prosecution decision is baffling.”

ATTRAKT emphasized, “This is a serious crime involving clear deception and theft of rights against a rookie artist with limited knowledge of copyright issues. We will continue to take action to correct the truth and protect our artist’s rights.”

ATTRAKT also argued that some of The Givers’ claims in civil and criminal lawsuits are based on distorted facts. They vowed, “Based on all evidence, we will strongly demand a reinvestigation and legal accountability, fighting until the end to protect our artist and achieve justice.”

Meanwhile, Keena is currently on hiatus from FIFTY FIFTY activities due to health issues. Following the police confrontation with Ahn Sung-il, she reportedly suffered from panic disorder and other mental health challenges, preventing her from participating in FIFTY FIFTY’s recent comeback activities.
